Toubleshooting Your Chameleon's Medical Condition
When trying to decide what medical condition your chameleon might have, scroll through the thumbnail images here and click on the one that most closely resembles what you are observing. If what you are questioning could be considered a behavior then also check the class on Chameleon Behavior.
Note that Chameleons hide their sickness as long as possible so once you notice it you are usually well into the condition. This is where chameleon keepers learn to trust their feelings when something seems “off” even if they can’t put their finger on what the problem is. Although a vet visit is difficult with nothing more than a feeling, it at least puts you on high alert to look for other subtle clues as to what is going on.

Basic Chameleon Medical Conditions is a class that is part of the Term 1: Getting Started With Chameleons coursework which gives you a basic exposure to the important issues in chameleon husbandry. Learning the signs of common medical conditions is a skill every chameleon keeper should excel with. The earlier the detection the better the ability to treat the condition. At times it is hard to tell whether you are looking at a behavior or a medical condition. Generally speaking, if the chameleon has a choice as to what they are doing I place it in the Chameleon Behavior section. If it is something that is happening to the chameleon I place it in the Basic Chameleon Medical Section section. If you did not find a match in in this course then please check the Behavior section!
